Wedding Date on Jun 4, 2021

This wedding was one for the freaking books. It was intimate, meaningful, playful, and sentimental. Kaycie and Steven picked the date and executed their plan in just EIGHT days. With a family member falling ill they shifted their plans from getting married in the mountains in Banff to a forest in Meaford. Thankfully, they had a great team who executed their vision and helped them pull off the impossible. They found a stunning property on Airbnb and flew their family in from Western Canada within a couple of days. It was a huge task to plan such an incredible wedding in such a short time, but everyone looked at each other at the end of the day and agreed that it was absolutely perfect. Now for a bit of insight into this awesome couple… The first time Steven and Kaycie saw each other it was late on a Saturday night in December 2011 at Boston Pizza. Kaycie went in to see her friend Caitie, where Steven asks Caitie "Who is your friend? She is so beautiful, I think I love her. I am going to marry her." When Kaycie later heard this recounted by Caitie, she thought "Weirdo.... but he's kind of cute." Almost exactly one year later, fate had it that they were at the same Christmas Party and hit it off. After a little bit of flirting, Steven asks Kaycie for her number (over Facebook the next day). After a few weeks of texting and watching the Grinch together from afar - they planned a Tuesday night movie date. They never made it to the movie, but instead spent the evening taking MUCH too long to pick out a pinot noir, and enjoying a few glasses while sharing stories and favourite songs. It was only the beginning. While the timing wasn't great, Kaycie had a one-way ticket to Australia booked for a month after their first date, they kept in touch. Upon her return a year later, Kaycie called Steven to grab a coffee and they picked right back up. In April 2014 after some time of going back and forth between Kelowna and Kamloops to see each other, Kaycie asks Steven "Have you thought about us dating? It doesn't mean we have to get married or anything..." Just over a year into dating, they took the plunge and moved in together. Here they bought their first couch together, learnt how Steven likes his underwear folded a specific way, and found a home for Kaycie's slightly hoard-ish collection of books. They shared lots of laughs and evenings spent BBQing and playing darts in the backyard. In late 2016, they had the opportunity to move out to Collingwood, Ontario. Steven was to begin taking over his stepfather's company and it was an opportunity they just couldn't say no to. They bought their first home together, welcomed the ever so dramatic Tucker into the family, argued over duvet covers, made lifelong friends, and established the beginning of their roots.
