Karli and Ryan met through mutual friends on Instagram in August of 2019. They had so much in common because Karli works in the country music industry, and Ryan was playing hockey in the USA. The pressures of the industries were so similar. They connected long-distance and started having 3 hour long FaceTime conversations, and by the time they met in person, they already were pretty certain about each other.
They both also love God and had many conversations about their faith, and were instantly connected by the parallels in their individual stories. They dated for 1.5 years and got engaged! A story we all feel only God could write.
When we asked Karli and Ryan what marriage means to them, this is what they said…
“Marriage is a choice to love one another, encourage, and make the commitment to be together until death due us part. We knew right away that we had strong feelings, however after a year and a half and a pandemic, many challenges arose that proved the strength of our relationship. We know that there will be so many ways to continue to grow - but are ready to choose each other for all that God has planned for us in life.”
They knew their day would be exciting and decided to start it early at 11am! We enjoyed a fantastic brunch buffet provided by the Revival House in Stratford, and the guests mingled during a beautiful cocktail hour in the garden! The day was very traditional (organ at the ceremony, very romantic feeling with many musical touches). There were lots of laughs, classic cars from Karli’s dad, a traditional wedding service in a beautiful old church. The ceremony was significant as it was at the church that Karli grew up singing. Her childhood pianist made the music during the ceremony, and Ryan’s brother played saxophone during the signing of the registry. Their officiant was from Ryan’s church that he grew up at to draw in a personal touch from his side. A flamenco guitarist played during the cocktail hour, and then they enjoyed an afternoon dance party along with a surprise choreographed dance with Karli and her dad. While many of the elements were traditional, for Karli and Ryan, that made them all the more meaningful. They loved to honour the traditions of their families as they made this commitment and became a family themselves.
