Matt and Kailey met at Conestoga College - they were in the same program together. Kailey instantly fell for Matt. She remembers thinking, “this guy has so much husband potential.” She loved that he was athletic, smart, hilarious, handsome, and tall and could see kindness in him. For about two years, they were friends - Kailey was busy and wild, and Matt liked staying with the boys. Finally, Kailey locked him down and instantly, they were inseparable. Their relationship was strong, and their communication was good. They travelled, worked hard together, and took on new challenges like buying a business which definitely put a wrench in marriage plans as Kailey was always so busy with work. Finally (after eight years), Kailey came home from work on Christmas Eve, and they took their adorable pup Bentley for a walk. With a fresh snowfall, they walked upon a candle-lit path with a blanket and a sign that said, “will you marry me”. Matt put so much thought and time into setting that up, and it was a huge surprise.
For Kailey and Matt, marriage means commitment, teamwork, and building a future together. Since being in a relationship, those things have always rung true but now they are ready to take the next step and start a family together.
Kailey and Matt were so excited to be getting married up in Muskoka. For them, it’s a place they both love and feel calm but ignited by. They love water, water sports, and everything about summer at the lake. They couldn’t wait to have their family and friends take part in this relaxing, chill casual cottage vibes weekend while tying the knot in a beautiful place. They hoped the weather would give them a beautiful warm day where guests could take part in beach activities, hiking, or whatever they enjoy doing that morning and then eat outside and have a beautiful garden dinner.
Well, this wedding was everything they hoped for and more (minus the outdoor dinner, it was a little too chilly for that). Most of their guests arrived the day before the wedding and checked into Sherwood Inn for the weekend. After having their ceremony rehearsal, Kailey, Matt, and their loved ones loaded onto the Pierless II for a tour of the Muskoka Lakes. They had food, drinks, and good music and enjoyed the stunning weather celebrating the weekend ahead of them. It was the perfect beginning to the perfect weekend.
On the morning of the wedding, the weather was perfect, not too hot or cold, and not a cloud in the sky. Kailey slowly got ready with her girlfriends, mom, and almost mother-in-law while Matt relaxed with his buddies, paddle boarded, and slowly got ready. It was one of the most relaxed wedding mornings we’ve experienced, and everyone was in such a good mood. Minus a pair of missing shoes, the day was coming together just right. Kailey took a walk around the property with Bentley and her bestie and greeted guests, played some beanbag toss, and soaked in the sun. Their ceremony was lovely, simple and special. They shared intertwined vows that they’d written together, which was the first time we’d experienced that. They shared their first kiss, enjoyed a dried flower confetti toss, and made a champagne toast with all their guests. Kailey and Matt were on cloud nine as they had a short session and then joined cocktail hour with an awesome live band. The evening flew by from there with the great food, drinks, music and company. The speeches their friends and family shared were heartfelt and hilarious, as you can clearly see. Overall, the day was so special; we know everyone had such a blast.
Congratulations, Kailey and Matt; this day was incredible and was such a joy to be a part of. You guys are the real deal.
