Erica and Matt met at university on the first day at a campfire. They both talk about feeling an instant connection with the other and knowing that this person would be in their lives for a long time. As Matt said in his vows, on the second day of university, a prof said they would likely meet the one they were to marry, and he was already thinking about the woman he’d met the night before at that campfire. They were friends for close to a year before becoming a couple. They’ve been dating for nine-year and did on and off long-distance for the majority of their relationship.
Since 2020, they got engaged and bought a house, so they’re confident they’ll do well married because if you can survive months of house renovations and lockdowns in a pandemic, you can do anything. We always ask our couples why they want to be married, and this is what Erica wrote:
“Getting married solidifies what we've already implicitly promised to each other. It's saying out loud and vowing to each other what we already feel. It's also a great opportunity to celebrate our love with all our friends and family. Why now, after 8 years? Matt finally got a ring, lol.”
How romantic, to have already promised their lives to each other and to get to celebrate that with their people. That’s what it's all about, isn’t it?
We met Erica in the fall of 2020 for their engagement session on the beach of Kincardine. It was a cold and windy day, but that doesn’t seem to show in the footage. They snuggled in close with each other and giggled through the whole session. We were so excited to finally get to their wedding day this year because we had such a great time hanging out with these two and their love was tangible. They said they wanted to write their own story and for their film to be unique, and they truly did write the most perfect vows to anchor this film. Their personalities, affection for each other, and glimpses of their relationship crafted the perfect canvas to tell the story of their wedding day. We’re so thankful to Erica and Matt for being so real in front of our cameras. It’s not always easy to relax and be vulnerable with lenses in your face, but these two absolutely crushed it. Congratulations, Erica and Matt; we are so so happy for you both!
