Emma and Nathan’s wedding day was intimate, intentional, and meaningful. They’re both heartfelt and earnest people and were eager to celebrate their marriage with their families and close friends. Because of local restrictions, they were limited to how many people were able to attend their ceremony and reception, and while there was some disappointment, they took it all in stride. They had many of their loved ones join in person for the ceremony and even more join via live stream. When Emma walked down the aisle at Cellar52 in St. Jacobs, Ontario, we thought Nathan’s heart might stop. His emotional reaction was so incredibly special to witness. Throughout the day they were purposeful to be present and engaged with each other and their guests and it was truly special.
You see, Nathan and Emma have known each other their entire lives. They both grew up at Koinonia Church and have known each other for as long as they can remember! During their high school years, they became best friends and grew even closer during an internship program at their church. As they grew closer to God and focused on Him, they learned just how compatible they are, and that they complement each other’s strengths and can come alongside each other’s weaknesses.
After SLI, Nathan got an Audio internship for 3 months in Texas at Gateway Church. They talked about starting to date after Nathan got back, but Nathan had other plans. On July 6, 2019, Nathan arranged for his sister Ariel, to make “plans” with Emma so that he could surprise her and show up instead of Ariel.
As for getting engaged... On September 26, 2020, Nathan told Emma they were going on a picnic date. After many wrong turns on the trail, they finally got to the spot for their picnic and set up a blanket. Right away, he gave Emma a gift. It was a photo album filled with pictures walking through their relationship. When Emma got to the end, she looked up and Nathan was on one knee with a ring in his hand.
