Brittany and Andrew’s wedding day was not quite what they expected- but it still turned out to be phenomenal. The forecast was threatening all week, and they called in favours to have tents ready if the skies decided to open. They’d planned their wedding on a dear family friend’s property just outside of Hanover. They cleared the bush, built a dock and stairs, and pulled debris out of the water. Brittany said in her speech that it really did take a village to pull of this private property wedding. Their siblings, parents, aunts and uncles, and close friends all pitched in to pull off a stunning celebration. With rosaries strung up on many clotheslines, the families prayed for the rain to pass, and in the morning, it really did look like it would! By the time the ceremony was about to begin, the rain also started. Umbrellas were distributed, chairs were towelled off, and the show continued. It was almost nice that the rain was coming down because it masked the many tears flowing from the bride, groom, families, and wedding party. When Andrew took his place on the dock to wait for his bride, the emotions hit, and he got very choked up. It wasn’t long until everyone else was crying because Brittany looked incredible walking down the steps towards her Groom. In their vows, they shared their commitments to each other and talked about their relationship's longevity. You see, Brittany and Jordan met in high school, went to prom together, went to college, and continued their relationship through so much maturing and change. And at last, they got to celebrate their relationship together with their closest family and friends.
As many receptions do, their reception began with the wedding party dancing in and Icing the couple. The only difference was the absolute downpour of rain just outside the tent. Dinner was served, and speeches began. Speeches are Brittany’s favourite part of a wedding, so the bar was set high for everyone sharing, and they delivered. Everyone was laughing, crying, and singing together. Many phones began to ring with Amber Alerts about a tornado warning. After one speech wrapped up, an uncle took the mic and announced that a tornado was due to touch down twenty minutes from then, and everyone must be outside the tent and in a vehicle. That tent cleared quickly as everyone rushed out into the deluge to get to the bus and cars outside. Thirty minutes later, we were all back in the tent with the news that a tornado had touched down 8-minutes away, and we were in the clear. Speeches resumed, and let me tell you, everyone was ready to party after that. The relief and hilarity of the situation seemed to have settled in, and no one was too bothered to have a great time.
Brittany and Andrew took everything in the day in stride and kept their focus on each other, knowing that no matter what, they would be married, and that’s what it was all about. And even with the hiccups, it was so incredibly special. Plus, how many people can say there was a tornado warning at their wedding??
Congratulations, Brittany and Andrew, we know this day was unexpected, and we’re so proud of how incredibly well you took it all. We wish you the very best in your marriage and future together.
