Bethany and Anthony met on Bumble in May 2019. Their first date was at William’s in Guelph. They went for tea and got to know each other. They quickly discovered they had many things in common; faith, yoga and fitness, and being close with their families. Bethany knew she would meet her future husband before she even left her house for their first date... she just knew. Anthony asked Bethany to be his girlfriend on June 18, 2019. Three years later, on June 18, they took the next step in their relationship and married.
To Bethany and Anthony, marriage means the coming together of two people to form a relationship through God. They chose to get married now because they love each other more than anything and want to start this next chapter of their lives together. They chose this year because they wanted to have a bit of a longer engagement and wait until things opened up to celebrate with their friends and family. It also worked out perfectly that their dating anniversary fell on a Saturday.
They love to spend time outdoors, play tennis, and go on walks and hikes in nature. They like cooking together, with Anthony taking the lead in the kitchen. When they don’t feel like cooking, they like to pick up takeout from their favourite restaurant, Lucky Belly (they catered the wedding too!). They like to do at-home yoga, watch the Office or a movie, hang out with their cat Ruby, and try new things together, too!
In planning their wedding, Bethany and Anthony intentionally added small personal touches throughout the day. They included ceremonial aspects in the ceremony itself with the Greek Orthodox flower crown ceremony and their personal vows, an incense blessing by Anthony’s Grandma outside immediately following the ceremony, catering by their all-time favourite restaurant, Lucky Belly, lawn games during cocktail hour, their signature drinks, fun and energetic entrance to the reception, personalized speeches by their parents and Maid of Honour, Best Man, Bethany’s brother as MC… oh yes, and the late-night meal was Mr. Sub & Greek deserts made by Anthony’s grandmother (Yia Yia). She and his grandfather owned a Mr. Sub for 20 years, so it’s extra special.
The stunning flowers were also very important to Bethany. The look and feel was very unique - whimsical and bright/fun colours. You’ll notice the unique and captivating flower wall and stunning bouquets and boutonnieres.
We asked them what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day, and here are their answers:
Anthony: “I look forward to seeing Bethany’s face for the first time and seeing her in her dress as she walks down the aisle.”
Bethany: “Seeing Anthony at the end of the aisle, walking down the aisle with my Dad, yummy dinner and speeches and of course the dance party!!”
It was an absolutely stunning, peaceful, and intimate day. The intention that Bethany and Anthony planned their wedding with stood out so clearly. Congratulations, Bethany and Anthony. May your marriage be full of joy, peace, and beauty, just like your wedding day was.
