As told by Nolan... Caroline's family moved to Nashville from Houston, Texas in 2004. Our families attended the same church when we were in fifth grade, which is where Caroline and I first met. I remember noticing her eyebrows during those Sunday school years, but I don't think we became friends until she transferred to the same school as me, CPA, in the seventh grade. One day in seventh or eighth grade, Tyler, my older brother, and I were talking about girls that I thought were cute in my class. Tyler told me, "Watch out for that Caroline Smith, she is going to be a babe in high school!" He was right. Fast-forwarding to sophomore year, Caroline and I happened to be chemistry lab partners, which, for me, meant that I got to flirt with her everyday for at least 45 minutes. During this time, Caroline was looking for someone to play guitar for her in a showcase that CPA does every year called Coffeehouse. Thanks to Laurie, Caroline's mom, Caroline worked up the courage to ask me to accompany her. I agreed, and the main thing that I remember is that we definitely told our parents we needed to practice a lot more than we actually did. We went on our first date shortly after, in September of 2009, just after I got my license. I convinced my parents, and somehow Caroline convinced hers, to let us go to the Ryman Auditorium for a Jonny Lang concert. Since it was raining that night, my mom drove us downtown and picked us up a few hours later. At the concert I held Caroline's hand during a slow song and casually kissed her forehead, which all happened after I told the people sitting next to us that we were "not on a date." Thankfully, she still agreed to go out with me, and six years later I decided to give her a ring. It was the best decision of my life!
