Megan and Matt are one of those couples who have felt a lot more like friends than clients for a LONG time now! Their first engagement session had me heading off to their hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, for a gorgeous time in the apple orchards of Carter’s Grove. I was immediately drawn to Megan’s sense of style and her infectious laugh. That session remains a favorite of mine to this day! The evening light atop the mountain was truly something spectacular!
Their wedding was initially set for June of 2020 but when the global pandemic turned everyone’s wedding plans upside down, they ended up postponing their Hotel Hershey wedding to 2021. Since they were still planning to come to Pennsylvania the week of what would have been their big day, we met up on their old wedding date at the nearby Hershey Gardens for another magical engagement session! I absolutely LOVE that we were still able to mark that day’s passing in such a fun way that still celebrated how much love these two share. They were also very surprised to find we were just a month away from delivering our beautiful pandemic baby, sweet Brooklyn Alice!
July 2021 rolled around with a mix of crazy thunderstorms and heavy rain showers, so we were holding our breath that there would be a break in the pattern for Megan & Matt’s wedding day. And sure enough, July 10th was absolutely PERFECT! Sunny, but not too sunny. Warm, but not devastatingly hot.
If you’ve never been to the Hotel Hershey, it’s 100% worth a stay! The staff was friendly and made us feel like part of the family. The formal gardens in the back are perfect for portraits–bridal party, family, and of course, the bride and groom! There were a million things we loved about our time there with Megan and Matt. The Reeses cup even paid a visit as that’s Megan’s favorite Hershey candy. Life came full circle for me at that moment as the first time I picked up a DSLR, it was for a college job working at Hersheypark taking pictures of guests with the characters!
From start to finish their day truly was one to remember, and it was so worth the wait! We couldn’t be more excited for them as they take on the world as husband and wife, and we wish them the sweetest of happily-ever-afters!
How they met: Charlottesville – The Fitzroy (which is a restaurant/bar) ; met through mutual friends
How he proposed: “We were in San Francisco for a football game several days before New Years and on the night of New Years Eve Matt proposed to me on a rooftop in front of the embarcadero building overlooking the bay! It was so magical, all the fireworks were going off behind us, was truly the most special moment of our lives together! Matt’s sister and boyfriend were able to document it for us so now we can watch the video whenever we want!”
What Megan loves most about Matt: “He is caring, generous, goofy, kind, outgoing, polite, and always willing to help others!! I could go on if you want haha!”
