This story is a familiar, high school sweetheart story, but still so unique. Connor was a sophomore, Madison was a freshman. When Madison first saw Connor, not having spoken a word to each other, she called dibs, telling her friends "he's mine." So Madison made the first move by walking up to him, taking the tab off of his Rockstar energy drink, and walking away, still not saying a word to each other. And she still has that tab TO THIS DAY. One week after that first awkward encounter, Connor still didn't say anything to Madison. So again, Madison made the first move, but this time, spoke the words "can I sit with you?" Connor, playing it cool said, "sure, that's fine."
Since that meeting, there were ups and downs throughout their high school and college dating relationship. In college, their friends suggested that they, "take a break." Not because of relational issues, but because people thought, they had been together for so long, why not try a break? So they took a break, and it lasted all of 20 hours. After that, they just knew they were made for each other. So why fight it?
While on a vacation to a lake in Minnesota, Connor figured that was a perfect place to pop the question. With some of his family members present, he got down on one knee on the shores of the lake, and asked Madison to be his wife.
That led to the most beautiful destination wedding weekend in Colorado. The weekend started with all of their close friends and family arriving and spending time at the AirBnB. The following few days the group did some hiking, some golfing, some wine tasting, and went to a Sublime with Rome concert in the mountains. We even got to spend some extra time taking portraits of them at the Colorado National Monument. So many good times! But they pale in comparison to the wedding day.
The morning of September 5th was met with excitement from everybody. Connor and his groomsmen arrived with the coolest black tuxedos I have personally seen, such a classy look. While inside, Madison and her girls were all getting ready, imagining what was to unfold in the next few hours. Tears were hard to hold back as they all got their hair and makeup done. And when Madison appeared before them in her dress for the first time, jaws dropped. First the bridesmaids, then her dad, and the groomsmen even got a first look. How fun! But the most tear jerking dress reveal was, of course, when Connor turned to see his bride, he could barely keep it together.
As guests started arriving, they were met with a wall of freshly poured champagne. They grabbed their glass, signed the guest book, found their seat, and waited with anticipation, surrounded by the red-tinted mountains of Palisade, CO.
Even with all the beautiful scenery, Madison stole the show as the doors opened, and she walked toward Connor to start the ceremony. Not a dry eye at that orchard as we witnessed them standing together at the altar. And their vows, oh boy, you'll have to hear them for yourself. I think I should hire these two to write vows for all my wedding couples, I'm telling you, novelesque! They truly put effort into the words they spoke to each other as they were getting married. There weren't many people at the wedding, but the applause could have fooled you. Their people shared enthusiasm with each other well into the night. We laughed, cried, heard amazing speeches, and danced well after it was officially time to leave. This wedding is a flagship for every wedding to follow, everything about this day was perfect.
