From the groom: "There I was sitting on the couch of some mutual friends, Brian and Lindsey Rodriguez, during a pre-covid "rager" (read: "Bible study"), when this adorable nurse offered me a brownie. Now, that brownie wasn't an edible, but I might as well have been outside of my faculties considering how I was stricken by the infectious warmth of this beautiful and ambiguously-blended woman.
Now, I'm no Marty McFly, but I saw the future. A future with her. The wrinkle? She was wearing the letter jacket of another. Still, it was but a small setback for this love-struck mainstay. With God and the Rodriguez' on my side, I had the kind of hope every rom-com has failed to adequately capture. I also had whiskey. Which is not hope, but still helped.
Insider trading from Lindsey revealed that the Nurse and her current flame were smoldering and that I'd have a chance to make my appeal known. So, I waited the appropriate amount of time (which may or may not have been the day she called things off with he-who-will-not-be-named), and I made my grand gesture of "sliding into her DMs."
My flirty advances, however, were construed by the cute caregiver as little more than "friendly petitions," because she spent her nights sleeping under a rock. But I remained politely persistent until the day when she took me up on a group invitation to a local bar for Oktoberfest.
It was there I crystalized my intentions, while she tried to let me down gently with her ambitious schedule. I remained steadfast, and compared calendars on our phones until we found a time that worked. She reluctantly acquiesced and tried to "Kate Hudson" my "Matthew McConaughey," but similar to our residential Minister of Culture, she couldn't lose me in 10 days. Instead, the opposite happened and her feelings reciprocated, culminating in an evening at a Texas dance hall, where I asked her to become a more permanent fixture in my life. She said yes, and we spent the rest of the night slow dancing into a future together."
From the filmmaker: Sean and Angela have such funny, charismatic personalities that are so different from my usual couples. I really wanted to highlight their natural banter, the way these two bounce off of each other, and how it doesn’t take being around them for too long in order to see how these two compliment each other so well. It was even cute how, in an attempt to match each other’s energy for their vows, Angela went a little bit funnier thinking Sean would be all jokes, and Sean went a little more serious thinking Angela would be super sentimental. That made editing this video all the more fun, trying to match both the funny and sentimental energy they brought throughout the day.
And all of that doesn’t even cover the MANY surprises Sean had in store for Angela, which included performing a song he had written for her, plus a brass band for their exit which serenaded them with a cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” (believe me, this is fully on brand for Sean and Angela knew this when she agreed to marry him). Overall their day was so full of joy and laughter, and every detail seemed to capture who these two are together and the many ways they make a great team. Congrats to the Richards!
