Wedding Date on Mar 18, 2019

Nick and Christy met through friends at a Sydney market. They instantly felt something special; like they had known each other forever. Being the adventurous type, Nick wanted his proposal to be simple but epic so he took Christy to Tasmania, Australia. Nick found a quiet moment on the MONA Museum Ferry and proposed. It was this trip to Tasmania that eventually led them back them back there for their wedding. It was held in one of the world’s most wild and remote locations; almost otherworldly. They fell in love with it; the scenery, food and of course the wine! It took them 12 months to plan their destination wedding from Sydney and did it with flying colours. Nick and Christy were very fortunate to have stumbled across Thousand Lakes Lodge in this incredible part of the world. “It’s a place so remote, it was as if we were a million miles away from everything and could focus on the important things and create some magical memories with our loved ones”. Nick and Christy arranged their ceremony on the magical shores of Lake Augusta; a 5 minute trip from Thousand Lakes Lodge. An arch of native flowers was perched on the shores of the lake, creating a stunning backdrop to their celebration of love. They used locally sourced elements, including food, wine and native florals endemic to the area. This also included the one of a kind floral crown made from dried bracken fern for Christy’s hair piece. “We read many magazines and ended up very deep in the instagram following rabbit hole. After a lot of emails and phone calls, we ended up with such an amazing team of wonderful humans to work alongside with. It was clear early on how close the vendors are in Tasmania and how well they all work together. We felt confident straight away that we had chosen and amazing group.” Nick and Christy consciously chose to have a small intimate wedding of 12 people. It meant the day wasn’t rushed and filled with plenty of time to take it all in and really capture the importance of the day. One of their favorite memories of the day was “sneaking out to capture some golden hour shots. We were both standing holding each other on a rocky outcrop looking over the water and the lodge with the sun setting around us. In the distance, we could see our closest family and friends enjoying wonderful food and wine by the fire and hear the laughter and love being shared from a few days of perfect family bonding. It was our first quiet moment together surrounded by silence and the most gorgeous scenery. It was a time for us to reflect on how lucky we were to have shared in the most perfect day surrounded by so much love and support. It was the realisation not only of the life we had ahead of us but a sense of overflowing joy for creating a special few days that we will never forget.”
