On the 29th December 2021, a truly magnificent day for the joining of two souls who were seeking to become one, Alex and I had the opportunity to travel to the absolutely stunning Dalhousie Castle, located near Edinburgh. Dalhousie Castle is known as Scotland’s oldest inhabited castle, featuring fairy tale backgrounds and picturesque backdrops that will create a truly beautiful wedding photo album for any couple who decides to elope here. This 11-acre parkland estate is the designated location where we would be filming the elopement wedding of Megan and Daniel.
Megan and Daniel had met due to particular working conditions. Daniel had been working as a custom home and remodelling contractor in the town that they currently reside in and Megan’s career as an interior designer was finally beginning to take off. Megan was living in Atlanta when she met Daniel while searching for a new role in designing homes within the area. She ultimately decided to take a position with another home builder, even though she had really taken a liking to Daniel and his company. After working for the company that she had signed on to, she realized that she was absolutely miserable and quite shortly after accepting the new position. Megan decided to give Daniel a call and inquire about the position for his company that he had interviewed her for earlier in the year. Megan was in luck. Daniel had never filled the position and she began working for his company soon after. The two worked together for about a year and a half before Daniel finally gathered enough courage to ask Megan out on a date. Daniel recalls falling in love with Megan the moment he laid eyes on her, having a momentous feeling that they would someday work together. Daniel should have listened to his gut instinct because not only did he and Megan work together, but they eventually fell in love and agreed to share their lives with each other. The pair still love to work together on various home remodelling projects that the company is assigned to!
We’ve all heard the hilarious tale of how a joke turns into a reality, right? Well here’s a perfect example. On a trip to the beach, Daniel spotted a large man that was aboard their flight adorning a huge cartoon character tattooed on his calf. Megan, jokingly, said to Daniel “Let’s get matching tattoos on our trip. They both laughed it off. However, while sitting beside the pool two days later, Daniel asked “So, what kind of tattoo are we going to get?”. The two ended up getting a small matching tattoo on the inside of their wrists that read: 06 – 05 – 2021 (5th June 2021), the day Daniel told Megan that he had developed feelings for her.
Megan and Daniel decided to elope in Scotland, finally expressing their love for travelling the world together and, finally, becoming one.
It was great working with Coleen from Conifer Events again and Ayran from AD Media for the first time.
Megan and Daniel, thank you for choosing us to capture your special day.
