I asked Jake about his first date with Maddie and he told me he wasn't sure it would work out because he thought she was out of his league. I'm thankful for all our sakes that he got past that insecurity. Their love story is the actual Anthem for all of us who think of ourselves as "underdogs". They make us remember that love doesn't rely on being something you aren't, or pretending to be something you think the other person wants. Love strips us down and teaches us that true Love means that you are wanted exactly as you are, without pretense or otherwise. Creating their film has helped me to remember that in my own marriage as well. Aside from being in love, joyful, animal loving and basically perfect in every way, Jake and Maddie pulled off pretty much the best destination intimate event I've ever attended. They returned to a little BnB in Saint Augustine that has served as venues for anniversaries past and it seemed to unquestionable that they begin their marriage there as well. If the setting wasn't enough to make their wedding day unique, there are other items to consider. 1. Maddie's wedding gown had a cape. A. CAPE. 2. Among Jake's groomsmen was Robert, a replica of a haunted doll Maddie's mom found in Key West, FL. (I had to ask his permission before I took video of him. I did) 3. Robert and a certain stuffed Unicorn were basically the life of the party after the ceremony. Oh, and it was May the 4th... it needs no introduction. Words just really can't explain what that day held for all of us participants. I hope this film does a little to recreate it, though. As for Jake and Maddie? They are living happily, in love, with their fur babies and laughter filling their home today and will for the rest of time.
