Eric & Julie met on E-Harmony.com!!! We talked for awhile via text and finally he asked to meet. We met at a bar, both relaxed, wearing jeans, t-shirts and baseball hats. Just being ourselves. As soon as I walked in and saw him I knew this was something different. By the end of the night we had made a strong connection. When we left I got in my car, looked up at heaven and said, "thank you God. This is the man I'm going to marry." We both just knew. A very short time later we both knew we loved each other but knew it was too soon to say those words. Both scared. We talked about our feelings over dinner one night and came up with a different way of saying I love you. We decided to say, "Chicken & Waffles." Totally stole it off the menu in the restaurant!! But it worked. It was our way of saying, damn these feelings are strong, but this is terrifying, so I'll just say chicken and waffles instead of I love you. After a short year of dating we had numerous discussions on what we wanted in life and knew this was it for us. On December 8th we went downtown for a Christmas weekend. That was going to be our presents to each other, time together instead of gifts. I had NO CLUE what was about to happen. FYI Christmas is my favorite time of year. We went out for an amazing dinner and then went for a walk and ended up at the Christmas tree in Millennium park. The tree was GIANT, and there was this hole in the bottom of the tree where people had moved branches away to get inside this giant tree. I thought that was super cool because I love to lay under the tree and look up at the Christmas lights. So, I jumped in, it smelled heavenly, I looked up in awe of the lights, and when I looked back down Eric was standing in the tree next to me. He pulled a ring out of his coat pocket and said all these amazingly wonderful things....and then he asked me to marry him!! LOL all I could say was, "are you sure? "are you sure?" "are you sure?" He was like, yes woman, I wouldn't be asking if I wasn't sure. Of course, I said yes. I couldn't believe it was real! The rest is history!
