The officiant will wrap a ribbon or cord around the couple's hands as they recite promises and commitments until their hands are bound together. And despite modern practice, Saturday was actually considered an unlucky day to wed in Irish tradition so use that as an excuse to save some money and get married on a Tuesday or Wednesday!
