Love through the eyes of a nine year old. A wedding day told through his lens. Elaina + Scott’s wedding film. A story told in two parts. A story of letting go of tradition, trusting life’s timing, and embracing all that fills you with joy. And always having fun. Nestled in the Berkshires, The Mount has that kind of New England warmth that is both grand and charming, dazzling and peaceful all at the same time. It was there that Elaina + Scott would say their I Do’s, with E’s son, Charlie, right by their side. In a beautiful way, this was just as much a day for Charlie as it was for Elaina + Scott. Scott even directed his vows to include C in them. This was a moment in time, where becoming a family would officially begin. When we first spoke to E’s close friend and planner extraordinaire, Kayla, we were told that E+S’s day would be a little less conventional - with a comedian, live music, and open fire catering. Their wedding was really going to be about the day and their guests rather than all of the traditional stuff. We knew that E+S wanted to focus on who and what they love, not just their love. That’s exactly the kind of people E+S are - kind, focused on their people, and with big hearts with enough room for everyone. With all of that in mind we knew we had to do something special and unique. During E+S’s portraits, as the day was starting to rev up, we noticed that Charlie was watching with a big smile on his face. We took C aside and simply asked him what his definition of love and marriage was. He truly blew us away. As the day went on, we watched E+S enjoy their day, C’s words kept coming back to us. And that’s how this film came to be. It’s a story about love, about two people finding each other, about being different, and being the same, and being the exact right fit no matter the timing. It’s a story about a wedding as seen through the eyes of a 9 year old who has the wisdom of a much older soul. When editing this film, we wanted to portray the child-like wonder of finally finding your soulmate. The rush of experiencing everything together and the magic of looking around and knowing that you’re exactly where you need to be. A comedian, a culinary experience, a live concert. A day dedicated not to themselves, but to everyone they love. Elaina + Scott’s day was something we’ll never forget Sometimes people are a little bit different, but what binds them together are all of the same things they hold close to their hearts. And that’s love.
