This is a love story that might well not have happened, and it took a little more than fate, and a dose of good luck to bring it all together. Thanks to a mutual friend who had set this first meeting up, but had not clarified which café they were meant to be meeting at, and so both Chris and Danica went to different locations, and thought each of them had been stood up. Thankfully with the assistance of mobile phones and a quick conversation had this all sorted out and they finally met at the right place for their first date. First impressions are so very important and this first impression has led to this moment in time. Danica’s first impression of Chris was how genuine he is, and how he wouldn’t stop talking. For Chris, it was simple – Danica’s eyes and that butt 😊. From this first coffee date, Danica and Chris became good friends, although I suspect it was more than good friends. The first few months saw them heading out on many bush walks together, here in Tasmania, and also leading later in time overseas. Despite some nasty altitude sickness they managed to climb to Mt Everest Base Camp together. This challenging climb would have broken many couples, but their strong commitment to conquer this, and their support and encouragement to each other saw them complete this, and I am sure grow even closer together. Their relationship grew stronger, the more challenges that they gave each other. Danica opened her gyms in Launceston with her brother. With Chris by her side completing the fit-outs. Danica adding hidden chillies to Chris’ food explaining that it was nothing but extra capsicum, to try and make him more comfortable to her style of heat in food. This wasn’t enough for them so the next challenge was jointly renovating properties together. In between all of this there was plenty of time to relax and enjoy some of the good things in life, like drinking beautiful red wine together, hanging with their dogs Gilbert and Arnie, and eating endless wonderful meals cooked by Danica. I asked them both what they love most about each other, and for Chris it was Danica’s drive and passion for life, her great sense of humour and her cooking!!! For Danica it was Chris’ outlook on life, his motivation and calming nature. For them being in love is always feeling safe, knowing that they are always there for each other. Simply said ‘We balance each other out’ So how did this proposal unfold? On another one of their many bushwalks, with their beautiful fur baby Gilbert in tow, they walked to the top of Cathedral Rock on Mt Wellington, Tasmania. As Danica reached the top, there was Chris and Gilbert down on one knee, and they simply popped the question. Their wedding day was the perfect day to celebrate how much they much they mean to each other, and to share this love with their family and friends.
