Darryl and Crystal met in 2005 as wee freshpeople at Yale on their first day of Cultural Connections, a pre-orientation program, along with many of their lifelong friends. Crystal likes to say Darryl chased her (Darryl disagrees). After being friends for years, they began dating in 2008 but were both a little too young to say forever. Flash forward nearly 12 years in Boston, some growing pains learning to be better humans and partners, a few apartments later, and lots of fun and adventurous excursions in between, the two of them can't imagine being with anyone else. Despite Crystal running off to Iowa in August 2019 to start a PhD program (while Darryl stayed in Boston to take care of the house and do baller things at EverQuote), Darryl proposed during their first trip over Labor Day weekend at their annual friend reunion in Chicago amongst many of the same Yalies they met that first day in New Haven. It was expectedly Darryl... Crystal woke up Saturday morning after a late bus ride arrival and Darryl pulled out a ring very abruptly (in the most loving way possible, of course). The rest is history!!
