Carol & Ray met through their dogs. You'll have to hear the whole story in the film, but in short, Carol lost her dog Happy before meeting Ray. After a few years of grieving Happy, she decided to start looking for a new dog (with Happy's consent, of course). Soon after she prayed to Happy about this, she ended up going on a date with Ray, and that's when she met Jax. He even looked similar to Happy, and Carol thought "I said I was ready for another dog Happy, not a boy!!", and the rest is history.
They actually had FOUR wedding celebrations over the course of a year (by choice). They wanted each celebration to have it's own intentional purpose. This celebration followed their cultural Chinese celebration months prior. It was a chance for their closest family to spend a weekend in Big Sur together, and witness them speak their vows to one another under the Redwoods with their dog, Jax. I love how to beginning fully immerses you into their day and story, and hope you enjoy it!
