Wedding Date on May 20, 2023

Timing can be a pretty crazy thing. Becca and Andrew met on Hinge while they were both living in New York City. They both matched and talked for a while, but for whatever reason never actually met up. It’s crazy to think that each of them were looking at their future spouse without ever knowing it and just because life is all about timing, they wouldn’t find out until later on. Their lives kept going and the conversation fizzled away. Seven months later the app paired them once again. They must have taken it for a sign because they finally planned to go out. A year later, they moved in together. A year after that, they would move to Massachusetts. When planning for their wedding, they wanted to choose a little getaway sort of place for their friends and family. Over time, delightful three-day trips had become a hallmark of their relationship and they wanted to share in that with their guests as well. They chose a cozy little venue in Southern Vermont, where all their friends could get ready together. Like the majority of 2023 weekends in New England, rain was on the forecast. It drizzled all morning, but that drizzle would eventually turn into a downpour. While others might hide away from the rain, Becca and Andrew fully embraced it - donning rain boots, forging ahead with their outdoor garden ceremony, and splashing in puddles all while laughing in each other’s arms. Because what is some precipitation against two people from opposite ends of the country, who would meet, fall in love, and choose to take on this adventure together? Becca and Andrew’s smiles and warmth were enough to combat the weather. Because ultimately, our clothes will dry, that dress can get dry cleaned, but we won’t forget laughing in the rain with the two of them for a long while. Our theming when it came to editing this film came down to one word: Reflections. When the rain started to come down and we saw little reflections here and there we knew we had an opportunity to play with the idea of reflections as a theme. We open on a shot of A reflected in the sheen of a piano cover. Throughout the film we see more reflections of the Becca and Andrew in windows, in mirrors, and of course in puddles. The film also ends on a reflection shot so the entire piece is in it of itself, a reflection. Finding little moments and making them a larger part of the narrative helps bring out an organic grandeur. We got some candid footage and audio of Andrew playing the piano. When he finishes he ends on the note C. When we started looking for music we were able to find a song that begins in the same key so the two bits of audio would flow seamlessly into one another. This was another moment we wanted to play with reflections, highlighting the contrast and symmetry between the glossy produced music track and imperfect, but beautiful, natural audio.
