Angela and Josh reached out to us during the peak of the pandemic after their destination wedding in Medellín, Colombia was cancelled. They were in the throes of planning their dream destination wedding full of disco balls, jungle vibes and a killer dance floor – and then Covid-19 happened. After a year of planning their epic wedding celebration in South America, they made the hard decision to cancel their wedding, grieve their plans, and start dreaming a new dream: a Joshua Tree elopement with their immediate families. Their vision was simple but so grand in the important ways – a day focused on celebrating their 10-year (and counting!) journey together, a ceremony in the desert, and a killer family meal surrounded by their closest loved ones. Intimate and intentional, they wanted to create a day that felt like a part of their (wonderful, wild and wandering) story. The back story –– Angela & Josh met their freshman year of college in Chicago and started dating... pretty much right away. But before leaving for summer break, Angela dumped Josh, and after a few years of avoiding each other they finally realized that they were actually a really good match and rekindled their friendship. After senior year (of living squarely in the friend zone), they realized that they obviously belonged together & started dating again (though Angela refused to put a label on it for almost six months). After spending over a year together, Angela decided to travel the world for a year while working remotely, so they split up again. Josh visited her while she was living in Medellin, Colombia (the love was DEFINITELY rekindled) and when it was time for Angela to return to Chicago, she asked if she could crash with Josh for a week. She never left. Almost two years later they got engaged - Angela designed the ring and Josh proposed at home (not to mention collaborated with her boss to get her a day off for a spa day) and it was absolutely perfect. We couldn't love these two more and loved being a part of their wedding day that was so true to them and their journey together – intentionally adventurous (it was their first time in Joshua Tree & their loved ones all met them in the desert from the Midwest!), full of laughter, hugs, sparkly champagne bliss, stargazing, AMAZING food & surrounded by so much love.
