They met on coffee meets bagel (where they were actually both each other's first (and last) dates!). For their first date, they met outside his place in Arts District and then drove to Santa Monica beach for a free summer night concert. Calvin was so thoughtful and brought a blanket for them to sit on and some wine. They had such a fun, easy going time and they just didn't want to go home after that! They always knew he was going to move to Asia one day so they tried not to take things too seriously, but little did they know their whole lives were about to change. Calvin moved to Singapore and they did long distance for about 7-8 months, and it was during this time that neither of them could stand the idea of not having the other in their lives so Emily quit her job, left everything she knew in California, and helped him move out of his apartment in Singapore. Together they moved to Taiwan. Emily says, "It's crazy to think back to the moment he left LA, dropping him off at the airport I thought I might not see him again– but now we are getting married!" Fast forward to their wedding day on March 13, 2020– a critical moment where the world was beginning to change dramatically due to Covid-19. Emily & Calvin's wedding plans were especially challenged because they (and most of their wedding guests) flew all the way from Taiwan and other parts of Asia to celebrate their love on the Santa Barbara coast. We're so grateful they were able to celebrate their marriage despite the odds and carry such beautiful memories of being together through the following months of quarantine! It was so special during their reception when a few of Emily's bridesmaids shared a video they had put together full of clips of wedding wishes from friends and family members who weren't able to make the trip due to the global circumstances of Covid-19. We're so grateful we got to capture these moments and so many others and share this special couple with you!
