From the bride: "Cory and I met January 18, 2016 on my first day working in downtown Austin, Texas. On my first day we had training and I was unaware that Cory had been working there three years prior and thought it was his first day too. I found out as the day progressed he was one of the training managers of the class. Cory formally introduced himself at lunchtime and mentioned he was a Green Bay Packer fan. He added to not hold it against him since he thought I was a Cowboys fan based on my last name. He wasn’t wrong! Right away we had instant chemistry and a playful banter. Several weeks later, I had just moved to Austin and Cory finally asked me on our first date. He was quite clever in really presenting it as wanting to be my tour guide and show me all the best spots in town. For our first date we enjoyed burgers at Hopdoddy and ice cream at Amy’s Ice Cream on South Congress. It was the best!
Several years later, Cory had earned a trip for his 5 year anniversary with the company. We decided to travel to Italy to celebrate for 12 days! Cory secretively planned out his proposal to happen within the first few days of our trip. Our first stop was Venice, one of the most romantic places in the world. We enjoyed the first two days exploring the city streets and canals. Little did I know Cory was on the lookout for the magical spot to pop the question. During our boat tour on our second day, we passed under the Accademia Bridge and Cory knew this was the place. On September 19, 2018, our third day in Venice, we started our day by getting an espresso and wandering the streets looking at the beautiful architecture and boutiques in the alleys. In one shop, we both picked out straw hats. When we arrived to the bridge there was an art class with sketch pads lining the top of the bridge sketching the Grand Canal. This positioned us perfectly with a gorgeous view of the canal on the right side. Initially, Cory and I asked friendly strangers to take our photograph and while this was occurring, Cory was searching for the perfect person to capture the big moment. After enjoying the view for around 30 minutes, it was about time for lunch. Cory suggested that we stay a little bit longer and I thought, why not we are in Venice! Cory finally spotted this Italian gentleman who had a high caliber camera to take their picture. Cory leaned in to tell him something as he gave the man his phone. Cory turned back and started to express his love for me as I tried to kiss him, not realizing he had something to ask me. He reached in his back pocket and got down on one knee, asking me to marry him. I immediately said YES and kissed him. We thanked the photographer as he congratulated us. We celebrated by enjoying a perfect meal by the water. It was so magical as we were able to celebrate the rest of our trip engaged in Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence and Rome.
As a couple, we love to laugh, listen to music, and dance together. We love to cook together but also enjoy a nice meal at a nice restaurant.. Lately we have enjoyed going to Zilker and having picnics with our friends. After being with each other everyday this year and having to adapt to this new lifestyle, we know we can tackle anything together. The best is yet to come!"
