Our story starts with me seeing Vince at a local Flea Market. We never spoke that day; but when I saw him he happened to be with a mutual friend of ours. As the story unfolds, the mutual friend eventually put us in touch and 6 weeks after that day at the Flea on October 15, 2016 we went on their first date and have been together ever since. We dated just 10 months and then Vince proposed in our backyard on an August summer night over dinner. Vince and I wanted our wedding day to feel like they were hosting an intimate dinner party in their backyard. Comfort, hospitality, intimacy and love were the feelings we were trying to achieve for us and our guests. We didn't want the whimsical, romantic details to feel too girly or too female driven; so to bring in a masculine feel the greenery and dark florals helped to balance the day. We created a timeless, simple canvas with our own personal styles sprinkled throughout to accessorize the day. On 8-20-17, in front of 89 of our closest friends and family, we said "I do" at a venue in RiNo district in Downtown Denver. The venue, blanc, sits in a transformed, industrial neighborhood where the courtyard uniquely has grown trees and beautifully mature green vines. We really wanted to own our wedding, we wanted to be fully responsible for the design & planning. I love to bake, so it always made sense for me to make our wedding day cake - Almond Poppyseed with Buttercream Frosting. The modern, acrylic sheet signage was a team effort with Vince scouring Home Depot to find the right type of frame for him to construct, and me executing all the handwritten lettering. Walking down the aisle to Sigur Ros, I wore the veil my mother wore on her wedding day. My parents happily celebrated their anniversary just 5 days before, making the veil 37 years old. Keeping my dress a complete secret to all guests, bridesmaids and of course, Vince - the moment they first laid eyes on it as a complete look was such a special moment for both me and them. Vince and I spoke personally written vows to each other prior to becoming Mr. & Mrs. Whisker. #whiskeroffherfeet Vince and I had an intimate, private dance and sparkler send off to close out the night.
