Wedding Date on Mar 31, 2019

(In Taylor's Words) Our story isn't one made of nothing but rainbows and butterflies however it does involve some magic, patience, growth, and well duh...LOVE! Before officially meeting we noticed each other heaters apart at a metal show on a patio downtown. We didn't actually speak but our eyes were locked enough that we remembered it later. We officially met one blurry Thursday night at the once legendary Shakespeare's Pub on the rooftop overlooking the wonder and entertainment of 6th street in downtown Austin. SO romantic! HAHA. What happens for the next year is a game of cat and mouse with a whole lot of lessons in between. Some people have those fairy tale love stories but ours was definitely a piece of art building into a masterpiece. We have experienced some of the best times and adventures while also surviving through some of life's most heartbreaking moments. We have done this all together. To us this is true love. The proposal was preeetty adorable. We had a tripped planned to go visit one of my (Taylor) best friends in LA in December of 2017. Javie had a surprise dinner for me planned that ended up being a sunset dinner for two on a gondola in Marina del Rey. We drank wine and our driver took us around the bay to look at the seals and sea lions *SWOON*. While I was distracted trying to become friends with two very bodacious seals our driver (who I could not see because of our private little room) dropped something in the water. We went up and did a u-turn only for me to see what looked like trash from a distance floating in the water. Irritated (being the "love the earth" being I am) I was eager to snatch this trash out of the water these sea creatures call home. As we get up to it I realize it’s a bottle with a message inside. I FREAK out because unbeknownst to Javie its always been a dream of mine to find a message in a bottle. I still have no clue what’s going on. THEN I get the bottle opened and realize it’s Javie's handwriting with a sweet message with "Will you marry me?" as the last sentence. He tried to get on one knee which was quite hilarious in the gondola and with tears and shakes I said of course yes! Stunned that he pulled off such an elaborate surprise I sat in awe for a moment and we both caught a glimpse of a pirate skull flag hanging from one of the yachts in the marina. My dad had passed away tragically from suicide in 2016 after two infantry combat tours in Iraq and decided to stop his PTSD medication cold turkey two weeks prior, which resulted in a war flashback where he decided to end his pain. This being unexpected of such a cheerful man really shook everyone that knew him. Especially me and Javie. Javie didn’t grow up with a father and him and my dad became the best of friends pretty much as soon as we started dating. So he got 6 years with him before losing all of it. Now back to the pirate flag. I believe in signs and since losing my dad he has sent me so many little signs to show he’s around. This day in particular we were sitting in awe and happiness with our driver singing the Lady and The Tramp song (spaghetti scene) living in what felt like a fairy tale moment when both of us started crying simultaneously. Both of us looked at each other and were like "Why are you crying?" and we both said we were thinking about my dad. Seconds after I see this pirate ship flag. Now I grew up with my dad owning a Daimler ferret tank. Yup, that’s right. A tank. When I was in middle school my dad added a pirate skull flag to the tank when we drove it around. So in that very moment where we shared tears of joy and sadness from missing him POOF he said hello! We both pointed in unison and said LOOK AT THE FLAG! I mean I can’t make this stuff up. Moments like this no matter how emotional is one of the many things that makes our love unique. This all being said, Javie has decided to take my last name in honor of my father and to carry the Newport name on because it stops with me. He truly is so special to my heart for so many reasons but his love for my dad will always be my favorite. Wedding website: https://www.zola.com/wedding/taylorandjavier2019
