It all started with a little leap of faith as two strangers decided after three weeks of chatting that it was time to meet half way... Their worlds collided in the unconventional way, good old "online dating". On a snowy Sunday in early December of 2016 two hopeless romantics happened across each other's profiles and swiped right. Unknowingly and thankfully they closed the 70 mile gap. Shellady was in Green Bay at her very first Packer Game and Nick was just down the street cheering #12 on (must have worked because they won!) Those cold Lambeau brews gave Shellady just enough courage to make the first move. She sent the perfect message.... "Hey!" super creative, right! In classic Nick fashion he responded with a picture of a Shell-Lady... (No seriously, google "Shell Lady" and you will see the photo for yourself. Its a little figurine of a lady in a bonnet with her little pet frog, all of which are made completely out of shells.) And that folks, is how you get the girl! It's safe to say Nick has been making Shellady laugh ever since. They waited for a few weeks before physically meeting up for a date. Nick gets all the credit here.. He wanted to make sure that by the time they finally met, it wouldn't be awkward. To this day, Shellady thanks Nick for making her wait. For a girl who does everything "right now" and may have a touch of impatience, it was so different to feel excitement instead of nerves on a first date. It felt like they were finally meeting their latest and greatest friend! Reflecting back, this was truly the first sign that there was a natural balance between the two. It was decided the two would meet on Friday night at Sangrias in Appleton - the perfect central spot for the Mexican Food lovers. After a couple margaritas and a round of Patron shots (can you guess which one confidently requested "training wheels"?) (it was Nick) there was instant chemistry. Shellady was smitten and her cheeks hurt from smiling so much. Nick the natural comic was just beaming having found someone who genuinely appreciated his sense of humor. They parted ways at the end of the evening and instantly made plans to have dinner again two nights later. Soon they were inseparable. Things moved quickly from that point on and its safe to say there was no slowing them down either. They played the game by their own rules and decided to ditch any sort of preconceived notions that had revolved around dating as a 20-something these days. They didn’t fit the mold nor did they want to. They did everything together and realized that together was their favorite place to be. They made their own team and nothing had ever felt so right. Nick and Shellady effortlessly became the best of friends. On January 13th, 2017 Nick asked Shellady to be his girlfriend- it was an easy question to answer. It was almost as easy as squealing "Yes!" when he got down on one knee December 23rd, 2017 surrounded by Shellady's immediate family. He knew how important it was to make it a special memory with her family, the champagne was immediately popped in celebration! It was a very memorable Christmas as they were able to share the happiness and excitement with Nicks family as well in the following days! Shellady is a firm believer in trusting that "whats meant to be, always has a magical way of working itself out" and reminds Nick of it daily. If it wasn't for fate, who's to say these two would've even met? We took that big step outside of our comfort zones at just the right time for us to stumble (or should we say Bumble?!) into each others lives just when we were supposed to! Absolutely meant to be if you ask us.
