Laken and I went to the same elementary/middle school, but Laken was two years ahead of me in school. It wasn’t until I started high school that we got to know each other. I was fourteen when Laken asked me to be his girlfriend.  Laken asked me to go with him to our property one evening at dusk to look for deer near his deer stand. I was completely shocked when I got out of the truck and saw “Will you marry me?” carved in pumpkins along with pictures of us throughout the 8 years we had been dating. All of our family and friends were gathered at Laken’s house to celebrate with us after the proposal.
