We met on a mild day in March of 2016. The 19th to be exact, we both started our first day working at Miraval Resort and Spa in Tucson, Az. Savannah as a server and myself as a chef. I'm not sure what it was (her green eyes), but I found myself immediately attracted to her. As in most kitchens, both back of house and the front of house work closely together to accomplish whatever meal service is going on. You talk to each other communicating whats needed, eventually becoming close enough that you begin to tease each other, and it was so between myself and Savannah. I remember the first time I got butterflies from her. I was working dessert, and was putting up one of a dessert for Savannah, I decided that I would look right into her eyes, and attempt to hold the gaze. Well I did and immediately got butterflies and had to look away. I eventually got brave enough to ask her for her phone number, and would ask her to come dancing. A lot of the time she was doing homework, but she would be able to come out on occasion. I remember one particular night I asked her to come out and her response was, "You have impeccable timing!" having known her for a few months at this point I wasn't sure if there was sarcasm or not in the text, but she ended up coming out. It was also the same night that I asked her on our first date. I remember the feeling. It was like the dog who chases the car knowing it won't catch it, except this time I did and I had no idea what we were going to do. In two days time I came up with our first date. Mini golf and tacos. I ended up being a little late to pick her up, but after I had the 12 hours we spent with each other flew by. Not only did we mini golf and eat tacos, we also talked over a couple pints at a local brewery, and went dancing where she met most of the people I frequently went out with. I also got the second date that night! That one was hiking in Oak Creek, but do to our busy schedules of work (for me) and school (for her), we didn't really get a third date till almost a year later. By then I was already thinking of marrying her, I couldn't imagine someone else in not only my life but in the life of my children as well. As Christmas came around I had already bought her an engagement ring (which she had seen, but didn't know I had bought it for her), all I had to do was propose. I just didn't know when. I hid the ring in her stocking, and came home one day to see that the stocking was pinned to the fireplace. A sudden wave of anxiety hit as I thought she found the ring and was just acting like she didn't. In the moment, I figured now would be the best time since she had already found the ring(she hadn't), and I had her close her eyes, grabbed the ring from the stocking, and got on one knee. When she opened her eyes I asked her to marry me and got a tearful yes.
