How did the two of you meet?
We met while working at a coffee shop together - I (Mitch) was a baker and Destiny was a barista. It took us over a year to actually speak to each other, more than simple work conversations, but our co-workers were really instrumental in the match-making process because they knew Destiny was crushing big-time. Our first conversation was about our interests at the time - Destiny told me she wanted to be a journalist, and I told her I wanted to write a book about theology. It was Destiny who eventually took the first shot and asked me out. She sent me a text message asking me to teach her more about theology. I naturally overthought things and assumed she simply wanted to interview me about theology. Y'know, cause she was an aspiring journalist... My mom thought I was crazy for thinking this, but I thought it was more believable than someone as beautiful as her asking me out on a date. Our first date was at a cafe, where we talked for nearly 4 hours about everything you could think of, except for anything related to theology. We became nearly inseparable ever since.
How did Mitchell propose?
Mitch & I planned a fall getaway to Colorado for the second weekend of October. He planned the entire day for us to get dressed up, go into the Rocky Mountains and take pictures and videos for Instagram and our YouTube channel, then go out for a nice dinner in Denver afterward. The day came where we got ready, stopped to grab coffee, and we headed into the mountains. Once we got to the location, Mitch was quick to jump out of the car to get us moving up a small incline to a secluded area. Little did I know, we were running a little late and he had hired a photographer. Mitch also told me I had to walk in front of him (because he had the ring in his back pocket). Once we reached the top of the peak, Mitch set up our camera to take pictures and get a video for our YouTube channel - but not before he told me how much I meant to him and how much he loved me. Mitch told me to keep facing the scenic overlook as he set up the camera, and to turn on his cue so that he could get a cool picture. He said OK, and when I turned around, he was on his knee with the ring and I almost fainted, but I eventually screamed "Yes!"
Why did you choose to elope in Tucson?
We love the Southwest, traveling, and anything to do with mountains! Mitch proposed in the mountains of Colorado, we took engagement photos in the white sands of New Mexico, and now we want to get married in the beautiful mountainous deserts of Arizona to continue the theme of our love for adventure, nature, and travel.
