From The Bride:

I still remember the butterflies I got when I first saw Dustin 🙂 I was dancing with my roommate, Callie, at his fraternity’s formal, and when I saw him I somehow knew in that moment that we would date (I’m serious! You can ask Callie!). Fast forward 9 months later and Dustin & I were working at the same restaurant. We were all great friends so after work on some nights we would grab some brews & all hangout. Thankfully, on one of those nights in March of 2011 our friend, Robyn, initiated a conversation between us and the flirting began… along with some freestyle rap battles that we were so good at haha! Dustin cooked for our first date (sometime in June) and if you know me, you know that food is the way to my heart! One bite & I was hooked and we… well we became inseparable! After graduating that next May, Dustin brought this Mississippi girl to Texas! Our 3 1/2 years of being here have consisted of finding our amazing careers, making some awesome memories, traveling to amazing destinations, making new friends, reconnecting with old friends, watching close friends get married & start families, watching our favorite bands play, our love & friendship continuing to grow, and me trying to learn the rules of Soccer! I know, I know after almost 5 years of dating I should know every rule of soccer, but… I don’t. Thankfully Dustin is extremely patient :).
The Proposal
Most of my friends say they could tell how nervous their fiance was before proposing, but Dustin was excited and full of love so I couldn’t quite tell if he would propose that night or not, but I knew it had to be coming! July 10th was our 4 year anniversary and when I got home from work he had champagne and a single rose waiting for me! Then Dustin said he was taking me to a nice steakhouse for dinner but that he needed to grab something at his parents house first. While his parents took pictures of us, as they usually do when we are dressed up, Dustin got down on one knee & popped the question! And of course… I said, “YES!,” while everyone else said “Finally!” He walked me back inside where a beautiful bouquet of my favorite roses and lilys were sitting next to a bottle of champagne and a card which he signed on the inside “Love, your fiance”! We ate at Sal y Pimienta, which also had a bottle of champagne waiting for us! It was the perfect proposal!
