They met on OK Cupid. There's no shame in that these days. Beckah swiped left at first then changed her mind and paid 99 cents to go back and swipe right. She opened with a line about bikes and Steve decided to give her a shot. They didn't talk long before going on their first date. The two went to the Brooklyn Museum to see a sports photography exhibit as they both love photography. Steve rode his bike down from Astoria and showed up early to cool down as it was a hot July day. Beckah took an Uber and showed up late even though she was only a mile away. The museum went so well that they decided to walk to an oyster bar to get some food. On the walk there she was almost hit by a water bottle thrown or dropped (it will forever remain a mystery) them from a brownstone; Steve was a gentleman and helped her get cleaned up. It was an exciting day. She then left for a month to photograph weddings in Virginia and California but they kept in touch and saw each other a bit between the trips. After that, things moved quickly. She invited Steve with her to New Orleans only 2 months in and he said "I Love You" shortly before the trip, and of course she responded properly. The rest of the year was a whirlwind of traveling, hiking, camping, wine, good food, occasional bike rides together, photo taking and quiet nights in watching Game of Thrones. On their one year anniversary Beckah took Steve to that same oyster bar, Grand Army, in Brooklyn. She waited and waited to see if Steve would propose and when he didn't, she slid a card across the table that said "In case you don't want to be single Steve anymore...." and put a ring on the table. Steve was more than a little surprised but when she asked if he would would marry her, he said "Yes."
