Wedding Date on May 28, 2017

Rich and Rachel met during the first week of their freshman year at USC in the summer of 2007. Rich's roommate Joey, who Rachel had met during her orientation months earlier, introduced them to each other. It was a very quick introduction and Rich has reluctantly accepted the fact that Rachel has no memory of it even happening. However, their story really began in their freshman biology and chemistry classes, where Rachel could be found in the front row furiously taking notes and Rich in the back row furiously browsing ESPN. After joining up for lunches together with their mutual friends, Rich and Rachel chose to team up for a lab report, which Rachel begrudgingly says she did 100% of the work on as Rich and Joey played video games. Rich does not deny these allegations. Soon after, they each migrated to the middle of the lecture hall to sit together, where Rachel's note taking was replaced by doodling on Rich's binders, causing her to get her worst grade of college (it was a B). They were a perfect example of opposites attracting. Rachel loved Rich's laid-back demeanor and ability to always roll with the punches. She also loved his witty, sarcastic sense of humor and the very odd way he pronounced things like Florida (Flah-rid-a) and sorority (so-rahr-ity). Rich, on the other hand, was attracted to Rachel's type A, Hermione-esque personality (as you all know he is a recovering Harry Potter addict). He also fell in love with her sass (the South side of Chicago in her, as she'll point out) and always on point hip-hop dance moves. By the end of their first semester, they were almost inseparable. When they returned to Los Angeles for spring semester, Rachel had grown fed up with Rich's typical guy behavior and resistance to put a label on their relationship. In characteristic Rachel fashion, on January 22nd, she issued an ultimatum that they needed to be a Facebook official couple or else (it was 2008, so that was a thing), and that became their anniversary, until May 28th 2017 that is. Three years later they graduated from USC together still going strong. They headed to different cities for medical school, Rich to Einstein in New York and Rachel to Georgetown in Washington DC, to begin the dreaded long distance relationship. Despite how hard it was and their new busy schedules, they made it work with the help of a lot of Amtrak rides and Skype sessions. After over four years of long distance, Rachel moved to New York for a few months for 4th year medical student rotations while Rich was beginning his urology residency. With lots of help from his sister Melanie and brother-in-law Matt, he lured Rachel to Manhattan under the disguise of his birthday celebration and popped the question. Rich is still not sure whether, after the engagement, he received more congratulations or questions about what took him so long. Even though it took almost 8 years, they are finally married.
