From the couple: "We both moved to New York City in 2016. Me from Louisiana, Neil from Oregon. We both were in the advertising industry and were immediately addicted to the energy and pace of New York. A few years later, in 2018, we found ourselves working together at a small, 14-person digital agency. We worked together on the same clients, Neil as a creative writer and me as a strategist. Over long months, a friendship was developed, which slowly turned into a deeper affection. Both of us avoided our feelings, seeing as it was such a small work environment and we didn't want to act on anything that could potentially turn messy. At the end of the day, we couldn't help it. I invited a bunch of people over for a small gathering as an excuse to hang out with Neil outside of work. Everyone, except Neil, bailed last minute. We ended up having an impromptu date at a bar on the Upper East Side called The Penrose where we shared our first kiss. We dated in secret for a while, hiding our budding relationship from work, until finally we told our bosses and they were thrilled for us. We fell in love in the most magical city, sharing our first "I love you's" in Time Square of all places. We moved to Austin in 2021 during the pandemic. Neil proposed at the Sekrit Theater in June of 2022, as it reminded us both of one of our favorite places in Brooklyn. We can't wait to start the next chapter of our lives together!"
“Sometimes I find myself thinking how wonderful it is to love someone at all, but how wonderful it is to be able to love you.” If Neil and Hailey’s emotional vows don’t get you crying, then laughing along with their infectious personalities just might be the thing that does. They are those warm, outgoing, life of the party people who you just want to be best friends with. They met and fell in love while working for an ad agency together in New York (which I chose the first song of the video as a nod to), and they have a knack for style and creativity. I was so thrilled when they wanted to have their film shot entirely in Super 8, and as soon as I heard their incredible vows, I knew I needed to incorporate them into the video. Something new that I also tried was using stock footage. I wasn’t sure if it would be cheesy, but I had a vision of something really poetic that matched the vows that Neil wrote for Hailey. I also specifically wanted to use footage of New York since that was the start of their relationship adventure. I’m so grateful for Neil and Hailey’s trust in me and their entire vendor team. It was truly a dream to be a part of. Cheers to the Kirkpatricks!
