From the bride and groom: Neepa- I was not in the mood to date at all. My friends had pretty much hijacked my phone and set up the dating app and profile and was clicking on profiles for me. When we matched, I cancelled on him twice. I was just not feeling the whole thing. Finally my friends kept pressuring and i went just thinking i'd make them happy and to just break my non-dating break. The night of the date, and before it had even started, I had even made plans to meet friends an hour later, thinking I'd have one drink with him and be out. And I had even showed up buzzed, thats how little how thought this was going to be anything. But it was a great date! Three hours later we are leaving together and meeting up with his friends and talking to the wee hours of the night. It was just the best. And every other date after that. Who knew!? Its always happens when you aren't looking. Vishnu- We met online and she canceled on me twice. Once only a few hours before. So I had written her off, but she wanted to grab drinks one Friday. I met her at one of my favorite bars in chicago (celeste) and we had a great time. We talked and clicked right away and i was very taken with her world travels - especially her trip to Antartica by herself. Also, I was impressed with how she started her own successful dental practice. She was very witty and funny and I loved our conversation at celeste. I then invited her to go hang with a few of my friends at my favorite dive bar. I was planning on meeting them anyways after our date as I thought it wasn't going to turn into anything since she cancelled twice before. Neepa: He proposed on the first day when we arrived in New Zealand. He was being super protective about his briefcase, so i thought something was up. When we arrived, he insisted on driving to a specific beach, even when it was cold and rainy. And this guy is never insistent about anything. I kind of had a feeling. When the time came, he got down one one knee and couldn't get the ring out of his pocket for a solid two minutes. I just sort of stood there in a daze. Lol. It was all just so sweet and endearing. He had put a lot of effort into planning the perfect proposal, even using google satellite to practice the drive to the beach while still in the US. Love! Written by Vishnu- I was planning it for a few months. I had bought the ring two months in advance and I was planning on asking her here in chicago before we left for new zealand. However, the week before ended up being the coldest week of the year and i couldn't ask her because i wanted to propose outside by lake Michigan. So I found a beautiful secluded beach in new zealand and i insisted on going there first thing. I mapped out how to get there from aukland and even went over the route with google maps street view just so i didnt get lost. When i finally asked her the ring got wrapped up in the bag i was carrying and it took me a good 30 seconds before i could get it out.
