Q: How did the two of you meet? A: We met at Michigan State University at the end of my freshman year. My long-term boyfriend from high school dumped me right before my sorority's formal, so I needed a date. A girl in ZTA said she knew a really nice guy that was in her boyfriend's fraternity and asked him if he would go with me. We met before the formal at Starbucks on campus because I didn't want the first time I met him to be at the dance. When we sat down, he said, "I have something for you." He handed me a piece of paper... it was his resume. He said, "Here... look it over. See if I fit what you're looking for." He turned out to be everything I was looking for and so much more. 6 years later and here we are! Q: Tell us about the proposal! A: My nails weren't done, my hair was up in a pony tail and I was wearing a hat... I had no clue. I didn't see it coming because my little sister had the ACT that morning, so my family wasn't around and he knew I wanted them to be nearby. We were in East Lansing for an MSU football game and we walked all over campus... my knee was starting to act up. I told him I wanted to go back to our tailgate because I was in pain and he said he would rub my knee when we got back, but he wanted to walk a little bit longer because it was such a beautiful day. We were approaching the Beaumont Tower and I charged at the benches and took a seat because again... so much pain! He started rubbing my knee and said, "I want to rub your knee for the rest of your life." Yes, you read that right. "I want to rub your knee for the rest of your life." I looked at him like he was nuts. He got down on one knee in his green and white striped overalls in front of the tower and asked me to marry him. Best day of my life. I didn't even care that my nails looked ratchet! Then to my surprise... we went back to the tailgate and all of our friends and family were there to celebrate.
