From the bride: "Rushing and I met during our time in high school. He was a senior, and I was a junior. We grew up in the same town for most of our lives, but we were only acquaintances up until this point. I was moving back from a school in Mississippi at the time, and many of my friends and family kept mentioning Rushing as someone I should get to know more. They talked about his commitment to the Lord, how good he was at sports, and of course how nice of a guy he was. I kept brushing it off with the excuse that we were acquaintances and nothing more. I pretended to be annoyed at my match making friends, but at the same time, my heart was encouraged. I had recently just become a Christian during my time in Mississippi and to hear of other genuine believers in my high school was something I was really thankful for. After a few weeks of hearing people mention Rushing again and again, I decided to reach out. (Probably a bolder move than I would normally take, but my intentions weren't to make him my boyfriend). One night after a football game, I texted him a message letting him know that I had been encouraged by hearing people talk about his walk with the Lord, and that he should keep it up. People were noticing, and he should continue to glorify the Lord in what he was doing. We ended up talking casually back and forth for a little while longer after that, and I honestly thought that was it. But the Lord had more for us. We continued to get to know one another as friends for the next couple of weeks. Weeks turned into months, months turned into years, and we've been on this crazy journey ever since. It's hard to believe that we've come this far. It has only been by God's grace. The Lord's given me and Rushing so many great times together; times to grow and to make much of Him. He has been faithful. It has been so sweet to see so many dreams come to fruition during this season of life. We cannot wait to see what marriage will finally be like as we take this next step of faith to glorify the kingdom together."
