Where to even begin with the incredible experience that was celebrating Mel and Micah? We’ve been looking forward to their intimate, beach side Lake Michigan wedding ever since we received the very first email from them.
They opted for a truly intimate wedding day, with just their parents attending as guests. We celebrated their ceremony with sprinkles of rain as we all laughed, dodging a passing rain cloud. The skies event blessed them with a double rain bow, almost as a special gift, just for them, as they showed their commitment to each other couldn’t be stopped by even a few bouts of heavy rain.
To add to the beautiful coincidence of it all, their special “walk down the aisle” song was “Need The Sun to Break” by James Bay. It couldn’t have been a better fit for the moment because we had literally been waiting out some rain before we all headed out for the ceremony, as the sun broke through the clouds.
Their ceremony location and date were specifically chosen due to the sentimentality they held: Mel and Micah frequently travel to the South Haven, Michigan area. Mel has actually been travelling to the area with her family for a long time as one of their special spots. The date was significant because they wanted to celebrate their wedding along with the beginning of the Harvest Moon - they even danced their first dance to “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young.
We ended their day with an incredible meal by Chef Joel, owner of Taste South Haven, blue hour photos along the lake, and sparklers with their parents.
To end this incredible week of celebrating Mel and Micah, we headed to Jone’s Greenhouse for their reception with friends and family. The setting was the perfect backdrop of greens and bright florals. They had delicious catering from Sahm’s Catering and a beautiful dessert table spread from Sweet Escape Cake Company and Longs Bakery.
