To sum up Lakin and Billy’s modern, elegant, and timeless wedding day in one word, it would be emotional. And I mean that in the very best way. These two, their families, and friends all wore their hearts on their sleeves all day long. There were multiple times throughout their ceremony where there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. One of those times was during Billy’s vows when he gave a special nod to Lakin’s brother, Blake, who had passed a few years prior. Blake’s presence was felt all throughout their day: Lakin wore a bracelet read “Blake Strong” while writing her vows, they had Blake’s military cap on a chair during the ceremony, we stopped by Blake’s Garden at Garfield Park for photos, and the entire crowd gave a special toast “to Blake” during the reception. I couldn’t even begin to say what my favorite moment was during their wedding day because every time I thought, “that’s it”, it would quickly be competing with the next incredible moment. So, I’ll share a couple of my favorite things from their wedding! 1) The epic first look at the Indiana Statehouse. 2) They both had the most heartfelt, fun, and emotional handwritten vows. 3) The love their wedding party, and all of their guests, showed Lakin and Billy all day long. It was truly incredible to be able to capture so much raw emotion! 4) Billy did a dance with Lakin’s mom at the reception, in memory of her son Blake. At the end of the dance, all of the moms and sons joined them on the dance floor. It was a really incredible moment. 5) The epic sunset session with the coolest vintage Cadillac!
