High school sweethearts, young lovers, puppy love... anyone that's ever had a relationship in high school knows the terms. You have those couples that are together for just a phase or once high school is over they'll just be a relationship meant to be locked in a time of nostalgia. Then you have those rare relationships. The relationships that stands the test of life's milestones, hardships, triumphs, life altering decisions, and of course, time. Relationships like Meghan and James, the one of few!
This wedding was a bit different for me as I went to grade school with James since 3rd grade. I've known him for a long time. We graduated grade school and high school together. Attended our handful of high school parties, hosted a few too👀, and even had some college classes at the start, before life has its way of changing our paths.
In a time of freshmen adolescence I remember our main goal, as any typical high school male, was to get some ladies. Obviously we knew nothing about how to accomplish that task, other than trial and error. One occasion I remember vividly was when we went to the mall and use pick up lines on girls (none actually worked) but it was the experience of having a buddy around so you don't feel too bad about your game that made it fun.
Once we leveled up to sophomores we felt, yeah this is it, this is where it all changes. We were right, it was when it all changed, but for the best. I found my first high school relationship (never made it past high school however) and James met Meghan. Did I know they would get married one day? I would lie and say yeah, but that's the thing with high school. Nobody knows how serious we should take our relationships.
However, there was one thing I did know. And it's that once James committed to having Meghan as his girlfriend, he committed fully. You would think loyalty should be a staple for every relationship and you're right, but nowadays, it's rare for that commitment early in a relationship.
Needless to say, we all went on through high school together. Other friends in our group had new relationships throughout their high school experience. Some lasted, some didn't, and some ended up getting married.
Fast forward to their wedding day, Meghan and James love is still there. Still blossoming and growing. And still fully committed. I don't get to film many close weddings like this but celebrating a beautiful day with two amazing friends is the most heartwarming feeling.
I appreciate you both for trusting me to film this day! I can't wait for your kids to look back and see where it all started and to feel and relive the day all over again!
Congratulations again to Mr. and Mrs. Martinez!!!
