The story of Nicole and Meg begins in the fall of 2015. Nicole was a student at Lynn University. Meg attended NOVA Southeastern University. Both were involved in Mental Health Counseling graduate programs. Both were entering into their Practicum Internships. Both were assigned to The Faulk Center. Both had no indication their lives were about to change indefinitely. Nicole knew that Meg would also be at The Faulk Center due to a mutual acquaintance informing her in advance. On the first day of their internships, Nicole immediately sought Meg out to introduce herself. Although Meg experienced an initial “Who is this person and how does she know me?” moment, the connection was instantaneous. And so, on September 8, 2015, two souls were brought together in friendship that would eventually turn into love. They have been inseparable every since. Nicole was like no one Meg had ever met. She was sweet, caring, and full of life. Meg aspired to be more like Nicole. Meg recalls her past relationships being ones where she was constantly supporting the other but without much reciprocation. With Nicole, Meg felt like she was supported for the first time. Prior to Meg coming into her life, Nicole had been experiencing some strong views towards relationships. Her perspective was challenging for Meg to take on but their connection was too strong for either to deny something more than friendship was developing quickly. And perspectives began to change… Small moments of connection are the building blocks of relationships. Out of the many moments of connection between Nicole and Meg, one discussion stands out explicitly. Nicole had expressed to Meg within only their first week of friendship that she felt the art of letter writing had been lost in our society. Meg heard her. And she began writing. It started out with notes of caring and friendship and developed into letters of love and adoration. The first letter to Nicole was given on a Tuesday. And every Tuesday since, Meg has written to Nicole. The letters have given Nicole a feeling of being worthy of love and the belief that fairytales can quite possibly come true. When asked why she writes each week, Meg’s response is simply because time moves too quickly. She does not want one week to pass that Nicole does not know how cherished she is. The letters always end with “I love you more than I did last Tuesday.” Meg and Nicole found themselves with many common bonds including their love for all things Disney. And the two made the most of it. They found themselves working extra hard so that every six weeks, they could escape to a weekend in Walt Disney World. The ambiance provided to them by visiting Disney allowed them to live in the magic of the fairytales they grew up on while beginning their own. Nicole recalls coming to the unequivocal realization that Meg was her person when she found herself walking down Main Street USA without the urge to look up at Cinderella’s Castle. Instead, she wanted only to look at Meg. On one such trip to Disney World, Nicole and Meg discovered they had something more in common. They had both already decided that they were committed to a future with one another but… neither of them knew the other had made the decision. The day was January 22, 2016. Both women had come to the Magic Kingdom with Promise Rings in their pockets to be presented to one another at one planned special moment. However, this turned into two special moments. Meg gave Nicole her ring on the “It’s a Small World” ride because it was a treasured ride in both of their past. The ring was presented inside of Cinderella’s Glass Slipper with the date engraved. Nicole gave Meg her ring during the evening fireworks show at Cinderella’s Castle. Meg’s was presented to her in a light up box to symbolize the fireworks and the light she brought to Nicole’s life. Many more trips to Walt Disney World came and went. Each visit brought more magic into their relationship. One special trip took place on April 22, 2017. Nicole and Meg had been planning a visit to Magic Kingdom to be accompanied by Meg’s visiting family members. Being the planner she is, Nicole was very nervous about the trip going smoothly. Upon arrival to the park, she headed straight to Guest Relations to ensure all was in order for the day. Meg went in another direction to pick up coffee. When they reconvened, Nicole did not even notice that Meg was not holding any coffee… Meg had been planning a surprise proposal for Nicole for the past three months. Both families were involved in the plan. Meg knew it would be the perfect opportunity to surprise Nicole with a proposal because she would be distracted with planning the day. And so… coffee was never purchased on that fine morning. Instead, Meg had run ahead to inform a photographer or her plan and to ask for pictures to be taken. Meg and Nicole started down Main Street. They stopped to take their signature Cinderella’s Castle photo with Meg’s visiting family. The photographer suggested that they also take couple photos as well. Amidst the photo session, Meg asked the photographer “What kind of magic do you have?” The photographer replied, “Why don’t you tell me what you have.” A sobbing Meg turned to look at Nicole. She pulled a ring containing a diamond that once belonged to Nicole’s grandmother out of her back pocket and got down on one knee. “Every day with you has been magic and I cannot imagine my life without you. Will you spend the rest of your life making magic with me?” were her chosen words of love. Nicole’s reaction to the proposal involved some tears, shock, and a scream of excitement that Meg has still never heard again to this day. She was overcome with emotion. Moments later, Nicole and Meg were embraced by their family and friends. Many of which Nicole hadn’t the slightest indication were in the park that day. As an extra surprise for Nicole, Meg also presented her with a grander Cinderella’s Glass Slipper than the one gifted to her with the Promise Ring. Meg’s surprise proposal had been a success. A celebratory lunch was on the agenda for the day. As the future in laws all sat together, Nicole’s mother found a quiet moment with her. At this time, she gave Nicole the engagement ring Nicole had been planning to give to Meg in the weeks prior to Meg’s proposal that morning. This ring also contained a stone that had belonged to Nicole’s grandmother. She wanted Meg to have a part of her heritage and providing her with such a special ring was significant because Meg had already expressed disinterest in being given a ring in the first place. Nicole wanted to ensure that Meg felt special and deserved beautiful things. Nicole’s proposal was originally planned to occur three weeks later in Epcot Center which was Meg’s favorite Disney World park. However, Nicole knew she could not pass up this moment of having both families together. After lunch, Nicole ran ahead to the “It’s A Small World” ride. This was a normal routine for Nicole because she often ran ahead to the front of the line to see if they could get on quicker. She explained to a cast member that she was planning to propose to her girlfriend and needed her entire family to be on one boat with herself and Meg in the front. The cast member was happy to assist. Nicole, Meg, and family boarded their boat and began their journey through the beautiful countries of the world. Nicole reminded Meg throughout the ride of how much she loved her. When they arrived in the last room, the “White Room”, Nicole got down on one knee in the boat, and asked Meg if she would spend her life with her. And just like that, 1 year and 3 months later from the promise rings exchange, the girls switched locations and entered the next chapter of life together. The union of Nicole and Meg will take place on September 7, 2019. At that time, Nicole will be gifted with her final and grander Glass Slipper. The Tuesday prior, will be Meg’s 207th letter delivered. The years ahead will be their ultimate joy.
