From The Bride: We grew up in the same hometown, but with our age difference of 4 years, we never got to meet until later. Not only did we grow up in the same small town, but we ended up both attending Texas A&M University at the same time despite our difference in age. Luckily, Blake was in the United States Marine Corps throughout college, so he took a few extra years to earn his degree while working, serving in the Marines, and going to school. Even though you would expect us to have met at A&M, we actually both traveled to our home town of Longview one weekend while attending A&M to be in our good friend's wedding as a groomsmen and as a member of the bridal party. At their rehearsal dinner, the groom's mom introduced us and was shocked we hadn't met, as everyone form Longview typically knows each other, especially if you attend A&M! Once introduced, we spent the next month together and instantly knew this was something special and real. After dating for over four years in the midst of so many life changes and long distance, he proposed at my family lakehouse, my favorite place in the whole world. I was shocked, but of course I said yes! We were engaged from February 2016 until September 2016. Planning the wedding in that short of a time was very challenging, especially because I was finishing up my Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy while Blake worked late hours every night. My mom and mother in law were so amazing to help plan our beautiful day, and it could not have been more perfect to me and Blake. We are so happy!
