As a wedding videographer herself, the bride, Madisen (hi it's me!!) knew that the most important aspect of wedding celebrations was celebrating in a way that is true to who you are as a couple and making the day a reflection of the relationship you've built together. The day was a combination of the feeling of an adventurous destination wedding and a
So, the couple decided to get married on Madisen's family's private lake where her parents also got married almost 28 years ago to the date. The couple also rode in the very same boat that was a part of her parents’ own wedding in the same location. *cue the tears*
The morning of our wedding we woke up early, made coffee, and went down to the lake from the cabins for a morning swim together. It’s one of both of our favorite memories of the day— it was so special feeling those wedding morning excitement jitters together and getting to squeeze each other in realization that we would be getting married soon… that very day(!!!!!) eeek. Our photographer, Rachel Fosbenner, joined us as the sun rose and fog drifted over the lake and captured our morning together on 120mm film. It was magical.
Swimming there at the lake had become such a staple part of their lives and memories together that it just made sense to honor that on their wedding day as well.
The couple boated almost 300 guests across the lake to their ceremony and back again for the reception, giving their guests a little adventure and experience tied to their vows and allowing them a little exploration of the family lake.
There is so much sentiment behind every detail of this wedding day. The couple deciding to get married on Madisen's family's land where her parents also got married 28 years ago (almost to the date), Gavin wearing a white tux in honor of his dad who also sported a white tux for their own wedding, riding in the same boat that Madisen's parents also rode in on their wedding day, boating all of their guests across the lake for the ceremony & back for the reception, having their best friend officiate, surprising their grandparents with a special dance with each to honor them, and so so much more.
This wedding day encompasses the true purpose and meaning behind what a wedding day is representative of and what we should be focusing on in wedding celebrations— less about the look of decor and details and more about celebrating in a way that represents who you are as a couple.
