We got engaged on August 26, 2018. Mackenzie was turning 21 (birthday is August 26), so we planned a trip to Anaheim to celebrate her birthday. We were able to secure a reservation at the infamous Club 33, an exclusive members-only club. Through a friend of a friend of a friend, we were able to get a reservation so that we could celebrate Mackenzie's birthday together. However, little did she know that Ron was planning to propose. Club 33 had specific rules about behavior in the club, as well as a dress code. Because of this, we brought a special set of clothes to wear at the club to make sure that we were dressed appropriately and nicely. Since we were dressed nicely, Ron decided it might a nice idea to take pictures in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle before our lunch reservation. Mackenzie, clueless, went along with the plan. We lined up to take pictures and while we were waiting, we held hands and Mackenzie could feel how clammy Ron's palms were. I (Mackenzie) had asked myself why he was so nervous and quickly thought he might be proposing, but didn't want to expect that to happen, so I made that thought go away to not disappoint myself if it didn't happen. It was our turn to take photos and our friends that joined us for the day let the Cast Member know that Ron was proposing. We took a few "regular" photos before the Cast Member signaled to Ron that he could propose, and he did! Ron went down on one knee, Mackenzie was so elated that she blacked out and didn't hear him ask her to marry him, but she said yes anyway! LOL. The ring didn't slide on at first, which was a wee bit stressful I admit, but we were able to get it on and it was a perfect fit. Afterwards, we celebrated our engagement and Mackenzie's birthday at Club 33. Oh! And our friends showed me videos of Ron freaking out because he was so nervous leading up to the proposal while I changed into our clothes for the club. Quite comical to look back on now and cute to see how nervous he was. Not to mention, the container he had for the proposal was a jar I (Mackenzie) gave him in on our 100th day anniversary with "100 reasons why I love you." It was sentimental to him and he wanted to share the proposal as the 101th reason why I should love him. Anyways, the jar was made out of glass, which isn't allowed in Disneyland, so it was quite stressful for him trying to sneak the jar in to make sure he had the ring and the jar to propose to me with. He was successful, but I imagine it would've been a disaster if it didn't work. How did each other knew he/she was the one? Ron: For me, it was the fact that she put up with me. When I was in college, I was part of the Reserve Officers Training Corps program. I had a scholarship, but after two years in the program, I decided that I didn't want to pursue it anymore and no longer wanted to be in the army. I decided to leave the program and was a really low point, but Mackenzie supported me through all of it. She said all the right words and let me know that she would stand next to me, regardless of the situation. Seeing her support me without judgment is when I knew that she was the one for me. This was about four years ago. Mackenzie: It's a little hard for me to put this into words. We've been together for such a long time that it's hard for me to pinpoint the exact moment I knew. For me, dating Ron when I was younger was literally a dream. He was the first boyfriend I ever had in high school and I went into our relationship with no expectations. I just knew I liked him and wanted to keep him around. I think what really did it for me was seeing how much he cared not just for me, but my sisters and my family as a whole. My family dynamic was really tough during high school and even through college and I felt like I was the glue of everything, but seeing how he supported me through it really helped me. He also interacted well with my sisters, as if he was meant to be there. He does so much for my family that I can't imagine life without him. I think I knew he was the one really early on because of that. He dealt with everything I did and went above and beyond, helping me deal and work with my family, and I never even had to ask for help. He was always just there. I think it really hit a point for me in my sophomore year of college, three years ago, when my parents decided to separate. Like I said, I can't imagine life without him and when everything was falling apart, he was there and I knew that I not only wanted him to be there, I needed him to be there. (Sorry, this is super not fun >.< but I think that's the best way I can put it into words).
