We were so excited when Lasse & Louisa reached out to us to document their Joshua Tree elopement. They are both from Germany and told us they were planning their elopement to be in the Joshua Tree National Park followed by a honeymoon in New York. Through our emails, we hit it off right away and when they told us they choose us to be their wedding photographer and videographer, we were so freakin happy! We met the night before for drinks to get to know one another a little more in person. We had so much fun chatting about the world under the dark, star filled sky in Joshua Tree. The next morning we met really early to beat the heat (July is SUPER HOT with temps in the 100s) and planned for a morning ceremony. Before their ceremony began, their parents called them and shared a special video they made for them. It was so sweet and included video messages from their family. It was just the five of us and we absolutely loved the intimacy of their ceremony. Their officiant, Celene de Miranda, not only created a wonderful ceremony but also, hummed a beautiful song as Louisa walked towards their ceremony spot. Celene also speaks German and therefore, officiated their ceremony in both English and German. We couldn’t help but feel like we were watching our close friends getting married. We all hugged after their ceremony and felt so much joy for them. After their ceremony, then it was time for cake!…awesome, vegan oreo cookie cake from Whole Foods! It was so yummy! After their beautiful ceremony, then we drove over to Joshua Tree National Park to capture their wedding photos. We were all sweating like crazy and drinking tons of water throughout the day to keep hydrated but these two didn’t let the heat bother them at all! Despite the heat, Louisa and Lasse were so amazing during their portrait time together. There was no hiding how much they loved each other and that showed in their photos. They were so much fun and we enjoyed hanging out with them so much. We decided to take a break from the heat and then head to Native Foods for lunch. They have some of the yummiest vegan food! It was pretty awesome because we are all vegan. It made our lunch trips a lot easier :) We found out through our chats that we had more in common than just being vegan. After a break from lunch, we headed back to their airbnb to relax bit before heading back to the park for sunset portraits. Luckily, we got an amazing sunset! We were so happy that they were down to hang at the park until dark. To say we loved their portraits is an understatement. When creating this film, it brought us back to our wonderful time there!
