Wedding Date on Jan 15, 2022

Rory and I met at the University of Waterloo back in 2009. We were both in the engineering program, saw each other at parties and our two best friends were dating (now married, and were our MoH & Best Man at our wedding). But we didn't start dating right away. In fact, we both had different partners over the years, but every time we saw each other, we could feel a spark. It wasn't until the summer of 2013 that things finally clicked between us. We were at a country bar called Stampede Corral when Rory kissed me on the dancefloor. We both knew that we were meant to be together. This is probably why we have such a love for country music. We went on all sorts of adventures together, graduated together and backpacked through Southeast Asia in the summer of 2014. We tested our relationship quickly, traveling in hot hot sweaty weather, getting in stressful travel situations but still loving to be together each and every minute of that trip. In June 2018, we moved in together in Downtown Toronto and started building our life. We filled our weeks with our love for Crossfit, electronic and country music, cooking, exploring all the pizza joints in Toronto and skiing and snowboarding. In November 2019, Rory proposed to me at the top of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. He said, "you make me feel like I am on top of the world every day, will you marry me?" I said yes, and we started planning our dream New Year's Eve wedding celebration. But then Covid hit, and we had to change our plans. We pushed our wedding to January 15, 2022, and had a small, intimate ceremony with our immediate family and bridal party. I never pictured us having a small wedding, but it was magical. I got to spend quality time with the most important people in my life, and wouldn't of had it every other way. Fun fact, 11 days before our wedding Ontario announced restrictions and cancelled all indoor dining....it was -30 outside so no way we were eating outside. So instead, we ordered dominos pizza to the hotel and had an awesome pizza party (check out the pics done by Rae Connell on our insta, they are so fun!) But it wasn't over yet. Our venue, Whistle Bear Golf Club, allowed us to rebook our dream New Year's Eve reception on December 31, 2022. We celebrated with everyone who had made an impact on our lives, with hugging, dancing, and fireworks. It was a night to remember. We consider ourselves really lucky. We got the best of both worlds. A small intimate ceremony where Rory and I really got to spend quality time with one another and a fun party where we got to show off our party side (We LOVE to dance). Even though it was an emotional rollercoaster planning and replanning and replanning a wedding...we wouldn't of had it any other way. We are thinking that we amazing vendors (Like Eksena), family, friends, and true love. 2022 was the best year of our lives. Now we're settling into married life, loving every minute of it. Rory and I love, love, and our journey together has only just begun.
