From The Bride: Brooklyn Botanic Gardens was my dream venue. Both Will and I grew up surrounded by nature and my mother had instilled in me a love for gardens and flowers from a young age. Brookyln Botanic Gardens is this amazing escape from the city, and only a mile away from where Will and I live. We loved the idea of being able to host our friends and family in our neighborhood in Brooklyn, and celebrate in a venue full of greenery and beautiful spring colors so close by. Most importantly, BBG offered the perfect rain plan with a fully glass palm house that would allow me to still feel outside even if the weather didn’t permit (luckily it didn’t come to that) Given the garden setting, the look we were going for was a sophisticated and warm secret garden, full of crèmes, whites, sage greens, and touches of the very lightest of blush and purple. It was important to me that the environment feel inviting and not uptight, yet still have a refined aesthetic to it. The dress: Though I’m not super girly, I fell hard for the fuller skirt as it just feels quintessentially bride to me. I found the perfect dress at Monique Lhuillier. It was actually separates- a white lace sweetheart bodice paired with a fuller skirt that was simple in the front, but had this gorgeous structural detail to the back
