Wedding Date on Dec 31, 2016

From The Bride: We met the old fashioned way, through our mutual friend Jeremy, who we named one of our wedding tables after! We had almost crossed paths so many times. Around 2005 we were both living in New York, working in the same building, just one floor apart. When we both ended up in LA, we were living in the same neighborhood. We later realized we were on the same group emails for party invites where one or the other did not attend. Finally Jeremy texted us both one day saying "It's time for you two to meet". We fell in love and Adam proposed on the beach in Santa Barbara on April 1st, 2016. Luckily, it was not an April Fools joke. When we were looking at potential wedding dates and we saw New Years Eve was on a Saturday, we thought, why not give all of our friends and family great New Years plans? New Years Eve is the perfect combination of a great excuse for a big party and a night filled with lots of meaning on love, life and new beginnings. We are among the last of our friends on both sides to get married, so also wanted to create an environment of celebration that reflected how happy and lucky we felt to have found each other. In terms of design. We wanted to embrace the New Years theme but not be too literal about it. We chose a palate of mixed metallics as the base and layered on jewel tones with the flowers and other accents that embraced the season. The ceremony was meant to be outside in the dark under the stars. But it POURED on our wedding day so we moved everything inside and tried to create that same feeling with dim lighting, candlelight and illuminating the chuppah with string lights. Now for the celebration…we designed the reception around maximizing the time on the dance floor! Republic of Music were masters at keeping the crowd on the dance floor and updating the playlist in real time based on what they were responding to. We wrapped it up by ringing in the New Year with a balloon drop and Auld Lang Syne flowing right into Shout to keep the energy going until the very end. We ended the night crowd surfing off of the stage!
