Wedding Date on Aug 17, 2019

We are Karen & Jesse, the married couple behind Painted Sky Films and this is our wedding film! It was incredibly special to be able to tell our own story, thanks to our friends at Paper Heart Films who captured our wedding day and provided us with the footage to edit. We met while working onboard cruise ships in 2015. For the first year of our relationship, we had the opportunity to experience some unforgettable travel experiences together, and we knew we wanted to incorporate some of our personal footage into our wedding film. In 2016, we moved to Vancouver Island and started our business together. In April 2018, we flew to Iceland for a 10 day road-trip around the island. On day 7, in front of the beautiful Skogafoss waterfall, Jesse dropped to one knee and asked me to be his wife. After our first visit to Gowlland Harbour Resort on Quadra Island, we absolutely fell in love with the venue. Having met at sea, it seemed fitting to have all of our favourite people travel by boat and gather by the ocean to help us celebrate our love. Jesse & I shared emotional private vows down by the ocean after our first look, all of our guests cracked up at our hilarious MC, we enjoyed some of the most amazing speeches we’ve ever heard (although we may be a bit biased), and danced the night away under the patio lights. During our vows, Jesse told me that even though he has been so fortunate to travel the world, our life we've built together tops it. He said, "You are the pinnacle." Later that evening, his mom gave an incredible speech and mentioned a similar sentiment, using the word pinnacle. I knew I wanted to start and end the film with these beautiful moments.
