Jessica and Kurtis took adventure to a whole new level with how quickly they planned their intimate elopement in the Mount Baker Wilderness. On a Friday afternoon, I wondered what I would be doing for the rest of the weekend; on Saturday night, Jessica and Kurtis booked me for their wedding that Sunday! They had planned their entire elopement in four days!
The photographer and I met the couple in their adorable little cabins below the snowline on a beautiful sunny day, and despite the tight planning time, Jessica and Kurtis were so calm. They were both clearly there to enjoy every moment, even though Jessica still hadn't chosen a wedding dress from the pile of Amazon dresses she'd brought with her! The two of them were perfectly in the moment the whole time, simply enjoying the company of their loved ones and the euphoria of getting married in the mountains.
After playing in the woods -- who knew there were such massive redwood trees in Washington?? -- we drove up the mountain to meet their loved ones at Picture Lake, which was still covered in many feet of snow! Their vows were so personal, from Kurtis mentioning how he loves that Jess dances while she eats food, to Jessica mentioning cheering him on during his college soccer games many years ago. The sweetest moment of all came when Jess shared a note she'd written about him early in their relationship, saying she already knew then that he was "the one."
After they sealed the deal with a kiss and shared some cheesecake on the lakeside, we hiked over the snow to watch a beautiful sunset over the peaks. They shared some champagne and enjoyed every moment as the light faded. Simple and a little crazy, this elopement day truly could not have been more perfectly them.
